L-Plate Driving
L-Plate Driving
Before you pass your test you are entitled to take lessons on the public highway when displaying your L-Plates. Lessons must
be taken with a driver who has held a full driving license for over 3 years and who is over 21.
You must ensure that you are insured to drive the car whilst under tution from any friend or relative.
Some policies allow this by default and others do not. If not there are a number of providers online who can provide this additional cover.
Debut driving school is insured on your behalf so you don't need to worry about this for any lessons with us.
L-Plate usage
L-Plates are used on the road to show that you are a learner driver. The point is to ensure that other road users are aware
that you are under tution and that you may react differently to a fully trained driver. As such, other road users should give
you a little more space, time and be even more aware that the unexpected may happen!
L-plates are a legal requirement for all learner drivers and should be displayed on the front and back of your vehicle.
We recommend that when selecting a pair of L-Plates that you use magnetic ones to prevent damage to the car.
You can purchase L-plates for your vehicle below.
